The Nutcracker
Ballet Arts Studio is presenting its annual production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 13th, at the Pete Seeger Theatre at Beacon High School, with performances at 1 PM and 5 PM.
This 233-year-old ballet, with music by Tchaikovsky, is based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s original fairy tale that tells the story of the night before Christmas, when a young girl receives a handsome wooden nutcracker from her dear uncle at the family’s party. During the night, her toy battles and conquers an evil Mouse King, transforms into a handsome prince, and whisks her off through the snow to a magical Land of Sweets.
Ballet Arts Studio produces the full length ballet with elaborate sets, gorgeous costumes, and features the exceptional technique and acting of our own Dutchess Dance Company and the younger dancers of BAS.
We are thrilled to present this family friendly, exciting ballet to our community here in Beacon and the greater Hudson Valley, and we are proud to witness the potential ballet has to inspire both dancers and audiences alike. We hope you can join us for this joy filled holiday tradition.
