STUDIO ANNOUNCEMENTS and NEWS

To the Ballet Arts Community:

Let me begin by thanking dancers, parents and friends for the hard work, dedication and commitment which culminated in the truly wonderful performance of The Classical Mystery Tour at the Bardavon Opera House last May. It was beautiful work. Thank you all !!!

Ballet Arts Studio is alive and well, and very much looking forward to the resumption of classes in September.

As many of you likely already know, Susan Santoro will not be returning to the Ballet Arts faculty next year. Miss Susan has been an important part of Ballet Arts for many years. Her energy, enthusiasm, artistry, professionalism and dedication to her students has been greatly appreciated at the Studio, and we wish her all the best in all her future endeavors.

Over the next few weeks, all dancers and parents will be receiving next year’s registration packet. Tuition costs, and registration and performance fees will not change. Additionally, regarding the class schedule itself, very little will be changing. The Tuesday and Thursday classes formerly taught by Miss Susan will remain on their days and times, and all other classes will remain in place, with some minor changes.

I am very pleased to announce that Maggie McNeilly, an accomplished dancer and experienced teacher quite familiar with conservatory-level instruction will be joining the Ballet Arts faculty next year. Maggie began her remarkable professional dance career as a young girl studying with Madame Seda at Ballet Arts.

Over this summer, in conjunction with the Ballet Arts faculty, I have been refining and fully developing the Ballet Arts curriculum. Beginning next year, all students will experience more complete classical consistency in the Ballet Arts curriculum and technique, from Preparation for Ballet through the Pointe/Variations class. Because of this re-defining of the training and classical curriculum, this fall all students will be placed in the class levels they were in during 2007-2008. During the first month of classes, the Ballet Arts faculty will be assessing the students and--given the curriculum changes--suggesting adjustments in class levels as appropriate.

More of your questions will be answered when you receive the registration packet. Of course, please also feel free to call the Studio at (845) 831-1870 at any time with any questions

Please remember that Ballet Arts is holding its August Ballet Workshop from August 11th through August 28th, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with classes at 4:30 pm and at 6 pm. I will have office and appointment hours during much of that time, and look forward to talking with parents and students alike.

Sincerely,
Alexander W. Bloomstein
Artistic Director

Dutchess Ballet Company

Dance Beacon

At Ballet Arts Studio, Dance Beacon, and the Dutchess Ballet Company, we believe that there is nothing like conservatory-based dance training for teaching children and young adults the meaning of discipline, commitment and hard work. The beauty of our programs is that every day the students see the physical, measurable results--in their own bodies--of their discipline, commitment and hard work.

Founded originally as Ballet Arts Studio, our programs have grown to include the Dutchess Ballet Company, focussing on professional-level performance experiences as a means to personal and artistic development, and Dance Beacon, which focuses on variety of community-based cultural and artistic performance activities.

Ballet Arts Studio, Dance Beacon and Dutchess Ballet Company programs center around a complete approach to learning, individual growth and talent development. The Ballet Arts Studio, Dance Beacon and Dutchess Ballet Company faculty nurture positive attitudes and attributes in our students so that each may fully develop their personal and creative potential.
